FAQs
How much does it cost?
Each 50-minute therapy session costs $225.
Do you have a no-show fee?
Yes. Please cancel within 24 hours of your appointment time to avoid a full-session fee ($225).
Do you accept insurance?
No. We are considered an “out of network provider” with all insurance panels. However, we are happy to provide a Superbill which can be used to pursue out of network benefits. Please call the number on the back of your insurance card to see what your plan allows. Some helpful questions to ask:
Does my plan include out-of-network mental health benefits?
What portion will I be responsible for after reimbursement? (common codes include 90791, 90834, 90837)
Do I need pre-authorization for therapy or assessment? Do I need written authorization from my primary care doctor?
How do I make an appointment?
Book a consultation call right here on our website, call/text (832) 303-1049, or email us at Nancy@healthwise-psychology.com.
What’s it like to begin therapy?
The first session, or “intake”, includes talking about your concerns and identifying what you want out of treatment. Next, you’ll learn about the nature of your struggles, understand the cycles that keep you stuck, and receive options on where to intervene first. You’ll receive different therapy options and we’ll go at your own pace. This should be an “Aha!” moment that empowers you to try something new.
What are later sessions like?
Next, we get into the heart of treatment. This is where you experience a warm and supportive environment to try new ways of relating to your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. You’ll probably track certain habits throughout the week and practice new skills. The more work you put in outside of session, the faster you see results (typically!)
Where do we meet?
Telehealth (virtual). You will connect using a simple link, sent to you in an email prior to your appointment. The video platform is encrypted and easy to use.
We see patients across the U.S., including: AL, AZ, AR, CO, CT, D.C., DE, FL, GA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, ME, MD, MI, MN, MS, MO, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NC, ND, OH, OK, PA, RI, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VT, VA, WA, WV, WI, WY (APIT mobility #21678)
How often will we meet?
Working with a highly trained provider can increase your odds of getting better, faster. This usually happens within 12-16 weeks, depending on your symptoms and goals. Most people see results when they can commit to weekly or every-other-week. This has to do with momentum between sessions and accountability to apply new skills. As you get better, you may opt to space out sessions or request infrequent “booster” sessions. It’s a bittersweet day when our patients don’t need us anymore!
How will I know when I’m getting better?
The old adage is true: baby steps. Together, we will look at your life. Are you doing the things that bring value to your life? Are you able to make space for tough thoughts and feelings? Are your relationships improving? Are you more energized and sleeping better? These are things we will track throughout therapy and course-correct if things aren’t going as planned.
Will we be a good fit?
A good fit typically means you feel heard, comfortable, and optimistic about improvement with treatment. You’ll get a sense during your consultation call. If we are not a good fit, we will certainly help you find someone else who is better suited for you. No pressure.
You’ll also have opportunities to share feedback with your provider throughout treatment. An open, honest relationship is crucial for your success.
