Flight Anxiety? Quiet Your Brain with These 3 Questions

Does thinking about getting on an airplane send your gut into hyper-drive? Heart pounding faster? Mind protesting with “I can’t do this!”? You’re not alone, and you’re not fated to always feel this way. Below I’ll talk about questions to ask yourself to quiet your anxiety and commit to the travel you’ve always dreamed of.

Ready to get started?

1) Why is it important for you to be able to get on an airplane? Would this grow your life? Would not flying shrink your life?

2) Is it actually dangerous to feel anxiety? In what ways does your anxious mind lie to you about safety and risk?

3) Call out the ways you avoid feeling anxious about flying (include ways you avoid feeling anxious in your body, avoid things related to flying, and avoid the present moment by getting lost in daydream scenarios) What does that cost you, long-term?

Give yourself some time to dwell on those questions, write them down, and bring them with you to the airport. Remind yourself of who you want to be, and take the fear with you in your pocket.
